It is a privilege to serve on the SDRA Board and work with such a dedicated team of members. Skootamatta stole my heart several years ago while visiting friends in the Narrows. Having grown up at at cottage in the Gatineau Hills, Quebec, where cottages were strung together like postage stamps, I was struck with the vast amount of pristine shoreline on Skoot, and the Loons, Mergansers, and Barred Owls that have made their home here. As an avid birder I was thrilled to be witness to spring and fall migrations of warblers and water fowl.
When a small, turquoise cottage came up for sale in 2003, we were thrilled to become the newest members of the Skoot community. My husband, John, and I have enjoyed the beauty of the Narrows for the past 17 years.
In the summer of 2018, I stepped down from my role as Chief Psychologist with the Durham Catholic District School Board and moved from Whitby to Kingston where John and I now live with our two dachshunds, Stevie and Rustle.
By 2020, I knew it was time to give back to the community. As a board member of the SDRA I hope to work hard to continue to protect and preserve this beautiful lake and its surrounds.
