Communications Director

Do you have a skill in writing and communication design? Do you enjoy keeping on top of what’s going on in your community and have an interest in keeping everyone informed and up to date? Do you care about our Lake Community? Do you enjoy social media?

The SDRA is currently looking for a new Board Member to serve as our Communications Director. The Communications Director is an important role for our association. In addition to serving as an active member on the Board, this role specifically focuses on keeping our members informed and connected on issues and happenings around our Lakes and in our Community.

The key responsibilities of the Communications Director role include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Working closely with our Webmaster and the Board to design, build and implement a communications strategy for the SDRA and its members
• Keeping on top of what’s happening around our lake and in our community and keeping the Board informed
• Working closely with the Board to select the communications topics and content that should be shared with our members
• Drafting the communication POPs and responses to inquiries
• Monitoring and managing SDRA social media sites
• Working with the Board in launching and administering member initiatives such as thePhoto Contest, Boat Parade, Ice Contest, etc. and designing and launching new events
• Managing SDRA physical signage for sites and events throughout the year
• Leading the design and creation of the annual Newsletter and Calendar

The ideal person for this role will bring solid technical skills, experience with social media sites and desktop publishing software, along with solid writing and editing skills. Some basic web design skills would be an asset.

This is a volunteer-based position on our not-for-profit Board, offering a unique opportunity to contribute and make a difference for our members and our community.
