Wind Turbine Update

Wind Turbine Update:

April 3, 2017 - We previously reported that the Province of Ontario suspended Phase II of the Large Renewable Procurement process which included proposals for wind turbines.  As you’ll recall, the two proponents (NextEra and RES Canada) of wind turbines in Addington Highlands and North Frontenac were unsuccessful in the Phase I process.

According to a recent posting by Bon Echo Area Residents Against Turbines (BEARAT), CanACRE has been retained by NextEra to continue the pursuit of private landowner lease agreements for lands in Addington Highlands for potential wind turbine projects.  Also, BEARAT reports that RES Canada has confirmed they are hanging onto their leases and mothballing their projects instead of cancelling them because they are still hopeful opportunities will be created to move these projects forward.
